  • Indian corn -our modern corn, the large cobs with yellow, white, or brown kernels.
  • Kiwi fruit.
  • Margarine - an invention of the modern food-chemistry industry.
  • Peanuts
  • Pineapple
  • Potatoes - despite their association with Ireland, potatoes originally came from South America made popular late in the Renaissance.
  • Red Peppers (capsicums)
  • Yellow Peppers
  • Rhubarb - like the banana, possibly known about but never used.
  • Shortening - an invention of the modern food-chemistry industry.
  • Tea - did not reach Europe until after the middle Ages.
  • Turkey - Turkey is a New World food that reached Asia Minor only after 1500 and did not come into general use in Europe until well after the Renaissance.
  • Tomatoes - a member of the Nightshade family, it was considered inedible or poisonous.
  • Vanilla Bean
  • Yams - New World.
I learned that they were so many different foods they created back then. But look at us now we kind of use their same foods they did because like we use the yellow peppers for Chile it’s like were living the past.

We had some really good inventions in the English Reniance I have a very few good examples. The first was is a clock it was invented by Galileo it was to measure the 24 hours a day. The next one will be the eye glasses. Only the right people wored the glasses. Some painters would even paint with them on. The next one will be the printing press it was invented by Gutenberg. Its purpose was for creating books. The next invention will be the gun powder. This was mostly use for war the soldiers would put the gun powder in the gun and then shot the bad people. They also used it for fireworks witch was pretty cool back then. The next one is the submarine. It was created by Leonardo da Vinci it purposes was for war but it was more like to be secretive where no buddy would know who could hear them. Last but not least my last invention I picked is wall paper. Its purpose was designs etc. So far I learned that all these inventions haven’t faded way and theirs still a lot of them out their. But its amazing how we still use them as today its like nothing change like were still living the past. My favorite invention they made would have to be the gun power because of the fireworks. But I wonder how they looked like is they like the ones today or are they different that’s something I would like to learn.

Music in the English Renaissance. They had different types of music ill give a few types. The first type I choose was church music. I chose this because back then church was a big thing people had different religions. Like they said “The style of renaissance church music is described as choral polyphony meaning more than one part. “ I think that’s pretty cool they had more than one part it makes it more interesting. My next type is Madrigals I chose this one because they are the best of the best I learned that they can sing any note nothing is impossible for them they have the highest pitches and good vocals’ next topic is instrumental i didn’t know that way back then they had instruments its pretty cool to know that the world hasn’t changed but its been improved a little. I also learned that music was more important   than the instruments they were just used mostly for dancing.Whats cool is that they had Lute, Viol ,Crumhorn, Racket, Sackbut, Trumpet. What caught my eye was the triumph were still use that in everyday’s bands that’s one thing that will always be in the future. My last type will be the keyboard. The popular instrument was the virginal. It was famous because it contained over 300 pices.Alot of their music was programmic.Through all this I learned that things in the past will always be in the future just because their very old dosent mean that we the people still don’t use them.

Crime in the middle ages was torture. They had different punished for different reasons like going against the commands of the lores and knights or for thieving, to provide amidst scarcity. Rebellion against the unjust system and subsequently, treason, was a common crime way back then. When the took over as 'head of the church', hearsay was an offense. They had other crimes in the middle Ages, which were strongly scary like witchcraft and vagrancy. There was smuggling of prized articles like silk and tobacco and highway robberies and those by outlaws. People got hung for counter fitting and rape. The punishments in this era were severe mainly arising from the threat that the crimes posed to an exploitative reign. Criminals were punished by the kings, knights, lords, sheriffs and the church. The local police were responsible for confining the criminals to an area till any trial commenced. The criminals were not fed by the authorities, and depended solely on family. The punishments included death, fines, public humiliation and subjection to torture chambers, depending on the criminal's crime. The methods of torture that were used in this very exciting period in European history include pillory, brodequins, and execution by the wheel, quartering, hanging etc. The torture was a deliberate and systematic infliction of physical and mental pain and anguish. The devices used were designed to ensure the infliction of unbearable agony. However, when devices were not used, the methods were barbarous and included ripping out of . It was also uncommon for a person to be tickled to death!

In the middle ages they had vassals witch is a person who holds the fief and owes alliance and service to his feudal lord or the king himself. The history of the vassal’s place of origin of this designation in the feudal system is said to be England. The earliest vassals were seen in England after the Norman Conquest in 1066. William, the conquer, who invaded England in 1066, claimed that all the land mass of the island belonged to him. The Normans, infantry and soldiers, were rewarded a huge part of England's land mass, for aiding William the conquer in his campaign. The whole of England was thus practically ruled, owned and controlled by Normans. The only exception was of two Englishmen, who had turned traitors against their mother land. The land of England was distributed among the nobles and military leaders. Some of the vassals had independent lands and did not live in the manor house of the feudal lord, whom they served. The vassals were gifted with large portions of land, the standard or average size being 1200 to 1800 acres. They had a different name for vassals they were sometime s called demesne or domain. They vassals had their own land it was about 1200- 1800 acres. The vassals had different roles in feudalism for example thier jobs  provided trained solider and providing equipment. The manor house was the place of the vassals and their family was they built apart from the village where the peasants lived.

During the middle Ages the Roman rule in Western Europe came to a fall.  This was also the time when tiny villages started forming and there was a subsequent change in the way of living. The middle Ages were divided into three periods the Early Middle Ages, High Middle Ages and Late Middle Ages. The peasant folks use to live in groups in villages. They worked hard to produce things and were self-dependent. The peasants toiled on land that provided them with food and other basic necessities of life. They used wood to construct their houses. Clothes were simple and ordinary, and usually made at home. The men worked hard, girls  assisted them in their tasks. Girls  had to do daily chores such as cooking and cleaning. They had a feudal system; it was the kings that enjoyed all the power and status. The poor managed their lives in cramped rooms; the rich had the best rooms of 3-4 bed rooms. By the 12th century, wood was replaced by stone.  Knights had to always be prepared for battles and maintain the best of physical fitness. Mothers had to  keep an eye  of her kids school.  For some, their diets were only comprised of grains and water. Vegetables or meat were added depending upon what was available. These common folks also toiled and gathered fruits and nuts in search of food. When the crops were good, they lived a fairly comfortable life. The rich on the other hand, gorged on a variety of meat for example Fish, birds, mutton and pork. Elaborate feasts were held during festive times.
